Rebecca Vargas is a registered osteopath who graduated from the British School of Osteopathy in London.  She has joined the Salisbury practice on a Friday in order to work in the dedicated Baby Clinic that runs in the morning and she treats adults in the afternoon.

The British School of Osteopathy is widely known for excellent tuition in structural osteopathy.  However, it offers training in a wide range of techniques, including cranial, visceral (organs) and functional approaches.  It also provides opportunities in a variety of areas, for instance, sports injuries, children, elderly, pre and post-natal care.

As a result of this experience Rebecca is a versatile osteopath who enjoys treating numerous musculo-skeletal complaints primarily using a combination of structural and cranial osteopathy.  Her aim is to carry on developing in this way as she believes it is important to adapt to the patient’s needs rather than stick to her own preferences.

Rebecca has a background in childcare that has led her to specialize in paediatrics and the treatment of children.  She has undergone further training at the Sutherland Cranial College and will continue to do so in order to keep refining her cranial skills and remain up to date with the latest developments.  Rebecca also has further training in myo-fascial release and diaphragm techniques, which she finds very effective in treating breathing mechanics when affected by conditions such as asthma, rib fracture and hyperventilation.

Rebecca is particularly interested in the far-reaching effect that stress and trauma can place upon the body.  Symptoms can often be vague and hard to pin point due to the extent to which it can alter physiology and affect immunity, energy levels, pain and posture.  In all consultations she bears in mind the stresses an individual could be suffering, as she believes that addressing this during treatment can promote a greater sense of well being and facilitate the re-generative processes of the body.

Rebecca has always been very interested in the complexity of the human body and she chose osteopathy because of its philosophy to create a balance that enables the body to self-repair.  When the musculo-skeletal system is working at an optimum it allows more energy and resources to be expended on vital functions such as thought, digestion, circulation and immunity.  In turn, this greater efficiency also improves a person’s ability to respond to and recover from daily stresses and emotional or physical trauma.
