Anne-Laure is a registered osteopath who qualified from the European School of Osteopathy (ESO) in Maidstone. This school is renowned for the wide range of techniques taught. As her training was both in France and England she benefited from gaining experience from both countries. She has also assisted at the international seminars at the ESO for cranial and paediatric courses.
She works in Wilton on Tuesdays, Tisbury on Thursdays and Saturdays in Salisbury.
Coming from a family who are mainly medical practitioners, Anne-Laure always knew she wanted to work in the medical profession and first started studying veterinary medicine in Belgium. After two years she decided that she was more interested in treating human beings, in particularly helping people feel better without medication. She wanted to succeed where orthodox medicine has failed.
Osteopathy was brought to her attention after a road traffic accident. She suffered from splitting headaches following the accident and tried prescribed medicine, but these were only mildly masking her pain and she needed a solution to her problem. The debilitating headaches were infringing on her lifestyle. After a few osteopathic treatments her headaches disappeared and she still benefits from maintaining treatments as a preventive.
Anne-Laure chose to practice osteopathy as it has a very global approach to the body. During a treatment the whole body is taking into account to treat the problem and prevent further injuries.
She treats people with sports injury, back pain, arthritis but particularly likes treating people with neck problems especially after whiplash accidents as it can refer to cause shoulder pains, headaches and affect the whole person physically and psychologically.
One of her best example to date is a woman in her sixties who consulted her for neck stiffness associated with headaches, ear pain and dizziness for several months. She had been to the hospital where she was treated for an inner ear infection but the medication did not help and finally been advised to see an osteopath because of the very stiff neck. Anne-Laure took a precise case history and found out that the pain this patient was experiencing was related with dental work she had few months before. She treated her with cranial osteopathy and gradually the patient’s neck became much more mobile, the headaches, ear pain and dizziness disappeared.
She also loves treating babies and children as their bodies undergo stresses just like an adult’s body, but the resulting symptoms in children can be a little different: crying, irritability, behavioral issues rather than pain. That’s why it is very challenging but it’s also important to treat them as soon as possible so they can grow up happier and fulfill their potential, both physically, and emotionally.
Anne-Laure treats using a wide range of techniques from structural to cranial and visceral (organs) depending on the patient’s need. She is also keen on giving home exercises as strengthening and stretching to improve the body core stability and posture.
